Park Pass Drive 06/16
Bill & Erika needed to obtain a National Park Pass for a trip this summer and found that one could be picked up at the Cecil M Harden Lake which is a US Army Corps of Engineer location. Since this was a great opportunity for a drive and dine with lunch on the way they set it up to leave at 11:30 from their house. Six other Corvettes were able to join in with Tom & Nancy, Phil & Anita, Bob & Cindy, Larry & Joy, John & Ruth, and Greg & Donna along with Merlin, driving & riding in them. With a worry of lunch time traffic the long way around by going up to 47 and through Thorntown to Crawfordsville and down 231 to 36 West. This route led them by Grandma's Lakeside Cafe' where they stopped and had a great lunch. Once done they took the East side roads of the lake around to the Corps office where they were able to get their Senior Lifetime National Park Pass. The route back was similar to the one out going up 59 to 234 and back to 231 and the rest of the outbound drive. Bob & Tom had decided to just go back via 36 into town. On the way back and just about to Thorntown John realized that he had left his phone at the restaurant so turned around and headed back. He did retrieve it and to make up for the driving by stopping at Sonic for root bear floats, as he said it was right on the way. Everyone had a great time and also got to see some of the state that they usually do not get to.
